Day Trip, Georgetown Texas: Texas Journey — March 2017.
Strolling into Georgetown’s central square is like stepping into a bygone era. The sidewalks are lined with restored Victorian buildings dating to the 1880s that house boutiques, restaurants, a candy shop, and even a hatmaker. And in the center, amid shady pecan trees, sits the neoclassical Historic Williamson County Courthouse. In short, you’ll have no problem understanding why locals have dubbed this “the most beautiful town square in Texas.”
But the square is only one of Georgetown’s draws. The slow pace, arts and culture, wine bars, and parks make this former frontier town an ideal day trip from Austin, 27 miles away.
