Guys and Girls Operating as Leaders Impart Lessons that Last a Lifetime: Texas School Business — December 2015.
It was 2009, and at McMath Middle School in Denton, Texas, a group of male students were at the end of their ropes. These students, who were learning English as a second language, felt alienated in the English dominated environment and didn’t believe that what they did in the classroom made a difference. Many were also dealing with problems outside of school such as poverty, high mobility, domestic violence or exposure to alcohol and substance abuse.
